DIRT

“After a dusty Strade Bianche journey, what do you advise as the best and safest way to clean my frame bag? Your advice will be appreciated.!”
- Hey, sounds great and we hope it was big fun!
Rinse off any loose dirt under running water. Take care of your Zipper too. Then lather the bag with normal soap or dishwashing liquid and rinse it again.

(Dish soap is gentle on the material and will not affect the color.)

OIL

"I got chain oil on my bag. How can I get it out?
Rub dish soap into the stain with a soft sponge and rinse it off with warm water. Repeat the process if necessary. Dish soap is effective at dissolving grease and oil. If nothing else works, buy some white spirit (cleaning solvent/Waschbenzin) from a hardware store. It is highly effective at dissolving grease and is generally much gentler on materials than most people assume.

SWEETS AND CHOCOLATE BARS MELTED

“I had some chocolate bars melt inside my Diamond Bag. How can I clean it?
- Grease and oil residues can be removed in a similar way using dish soap and warm water (which helps break down grease), and/or white spirit. See OIL!

GOOD TO KNOW

  • try to avoid excessive scrubbing while cleaning, as it may damage the water-repellent coating

  • never clean your bag in a washing machine

ZIPPERS

”My Zippers look dirty, I don’t want them to wear out because of sand getting into the spirals. What can I do to prevent that?”
- That’s a very important question. Simply put, regularly after rides, rinse off dirt, dust, and sand under running water. That’s all.

(Sand and dust from the street in the spirals of the coil can change the spacing between them, when the slider is opened and closed. It can force and damage the spirals. The coating of the zipper will also wear off more quickly. It’s as if sandpaper is repeatedly being run along the zipper coils)
